Warrenpoint group The Cabbage Patchers are hosting a Funday Sunday this Sunday 19 March 2017 from 1-6pm at Warrenpoint FC. It's for people of all ages. Gardening tips, a forage trail, mini six aside tournament and loads of outdoor fun is promised.
The Cabbage Patchers is an intergenerational cross-community growing project whose aim is to build a sustainable future by promoting a greener environment, healthier lifestyle and more inclusive community, relieving economic pressures and social exclusion.
Sally sows Seeds
Sally from Moygannon Nurseries showing juniors and seniors the way to start growing in the garden and vegetable patch. Interactive, and you can take home what you sow. Duration: ongoing 1.30pm to 5.30pm
Sourdough and Salads
Traditional taste of All Ireland Baking Champion Peter McGill as he demonstrates sourdough bread making and sample his delicious sugar free fruit boosters. Duration: 2pm, 3pm & 4pm
Dermot Hughes of Forage Ireland will lead a trail of would be foragers for young and old on a 1 hour forage hike. Return to sample taste of nature’s larder. A really informative walk with one of Ireland’s most knowledgeable foragers. Duration: leaving WTFC car park @ 2.30pm return 3.30-4.00pm. Finish at 5.00pm. (Appropriate footwear recommended.)
Crafts Hobbies ‘n Hacks
Simple hacks, basic skills and demonstrations. Get ready for Easter with Kathy’s needled felted Easter crafts and how about recycling/reusing your household disposables? Lots to do in The Cabbage Patchers Marquee. Duration; ongoing.
At the all-weather pitch, a six aside Mini-Tournament in aid of Newry & Mourne Autism Society. Knock out stages throughout the day, final @ 5pm
Local celebrity Big O, will be mingling with his mike and recording interviews with an “intergenerational” slant. You could even be a star in the making when he plays the pick of them on his next show. Either way, knowing Big O, it’s going to be funny.
Red Squirrels United-Ulster Wildlife
Shanna Rice from Ulster Wildlife will tell you about our iconic red squirrels and how you can help protect them in your local woods and forests. Duration; ongoing through the afternoon.
Outdoor Family Fun & Entertainment
The Amazing Boo: live musical entertainment for all the family. Fun and Games for all ages: Bush tucker Trial, Head Skittles, Compete for “The Big Galoot” Cup…and there’s a little one for the little ones too. Spot prizes through the day.

Queen’s student Holly Burns shares her passion for fossils with an “everything you always wanted to know” session on a really fascinating subject. Some interesting fossils to examine too.
Footballs Nuts “n” Bolts
Warrenpoint Town’s first team coach Matthew Tipton will be on hand to present Mini Tournament winner’s trophies and give a few insights into the running of a top flight football team. Superb sporting motivation for the youngsters… our stars of the future. Duration; ongoing throughout tournament.
