With just over three weeks to go the countdown is well and truly on for everyone who wants to take their first look inside the district’s newest leisure and sports centre which opens to the public on Saturday 4 November.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Director of Active and Healthy Communities, Michael Lipsett said, “The Council strives to be at the forefront of the leisure industry and with the new facilities at Newry Leisure Centre we can provide access for everyone to ‘Be Active’.”

Mr Lipsett continued, “The new gym at Newry Leisure Centre is kitted out with over 80 stations and incorporates Technogym equipment. Technogym is the premier world leader of fitness and wellness equipment design and is also known all over the world as ‘The Wellness Company’  - a company that has helped develop the concept of ‘wellness’ into a true lifestyle.  Their mission is to help people live better and make ‘wellness’ accessible to everyone, everywhere. As a result, the Centre will have some of the most current equipment used for cardio training, strength training, functional training and group activities installed and any gym user will be spoilt for choice with our extension range of cardio lines, strength lines, power zone and functional fitness equipment.”

Newry Leisure Centre Phase II will be open for a fun filled weekend of activities showcasing its new facilities on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November 2017.
