Police remain at the scene of a shooting incident close to the Armagh Road in Newry tonight.

The incident happened around 8.30pm at a house at Drumgullion Avenue in the city.

The PSNI are also at another incident where a car has been  burnt out close to the rear of St Patrick's Primary School.

No further details are available at present and It's not known at this stage if both incidents are connected.

The MP for Newry and Armagh, Mickey Brady, has condemned the shooting “I utterly condemn this disgraceful attack.

“There can be no place for these brutal actions in our society.

“This is an attack on the whole community in Newry and I would encourage anyone with information to bring it forward to the police.”
