Growing up in the Northern Irish coastal town of Warrenpoint  developed my interest in different natural environments as a young child. I would study how the mood and colours change with the weather to stir up different feelings and create imagined stories.  I was also influenced by local folklore and stories that explained natural phenomena.

I worked as a primary school teacher in Belgium for over 20 years and developed the skill of ‘plein air’ painting on summer holidays. In this exhibition I want to combine 1st hand studies along with painting from my memory and imagination. Hopefully, exploring how the setting of Carlingford Lough inspires and unlocks my creative drive of visual
