The Ring of Gullion Winter Solstice Festival takes place from 3 November until 22 December with an incredible breadth of events from songwriter workshop to walks to lectures to wellbeing events. Social Enterprise workshops, Crafts, MJ Murphy Winter School, geology and much much more.

Winter Solstice Festival 2018 -The Playboy of the Western World

Event takes place on November 3, 2018

Winter Solstice Festival 2018 – The Michael J Murphy Winter School 2018

Event takes place on November 15, 2018 until November 17, 2018

Once again Cuimhneamh are delivering another exciting Michael J. Murphy Winter School. The theme of this year’s Winter School is ‘stories and language of the area.’ This Winter School is to pay homage to Michael J. Murphy, the celebrated folklorist, writer, photographer, broadcaster and socialist republican, as probably the most independent mind ever to come out of South Armagh.

Songwriter Session

Event takes place on November 21, 2018

Derek Ryan has reached a pinnacle point in his career with his songwriting taking centre stage. He will peel everything back and focus on the storytelling in his lyrics. This will be a casual encounter with more interaction from fans in a calm and intimate setting; it is a time to celebrate the music with Derek and acclaimed musicians Ray McLoughlin and Kane O'Rourke.

Winter Solstice Festival 2018 – Fused Glass Christmas Decorations Workshops

Event takes place on November 24, 2018 until November 25, 2018

Enjoy a day of glass making with local artist Tracey Mc Verry where you will create a series of fused glass Christmas decorations to display in your own home or give as a gift.

Winter Solstice Festival 2018 – Rock Legends: myth busting in Mourne Gullion and Strangford

Event takes place on November 27, 2018

Join Dr. Kirstin Lemon from Geological Survey of N. Ireland on the 27th November at 7.30pm in Flagstaff Lodge to find out the truth behind some of these Rock Legends, whether it be giants, famous saints, or fair maidens and discover the amazing real-life stories that the area has to offer.
