Sat June 15th 2019 will see the 6th year of NEWRY 2020's Festival of Windows on Hill Street, kindly supported by Newry BID and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Newry’s very first Festival of Windows  launched in 2014 on 13th of June  and  showcased work from local art and crafts people in shop windows in Hill Street in the City centre, turning the Street into a continuous Gallery from the Town Hall all the way down to John Mitchel Place.

Exhibitors  included Newry’s up and coming and established artists and crafts people.

The Festival was the brainchild of the Newry 2020 group, a grassroots organisation set up to help make Newry city a better place to live in and visit. The group  also bring the music festival Iúr Cinn Fleadh to Newry, with headline acts like The Four of Us, Hothouse Flowers and this year Paul Brady. They also campaigned  to help bring a City Centre Park to the Albert Basin and also in conjunction with BID the Mural on Hill street ,Menarys wall  and the new terraced garden in North Street tunnels.

The Festival of Windows this year is funded by Newry 2020 in partnership with the extremely supportive Newry BID and Newry Council.

As the years have gone by the event has morphed into a street art festival showcasing the work of Ireland's top street artists, such as Kevlar, DMC, Jonny mcKerr, Conor McGinley and Frizz.

This year we have 9 street artists, a fantastic local artist/illustrator/caricaturist/author John Farrelly who will be doing caricatures on the day and hopefully some live music too.

Garry McElherron, a proud member of Newry 2020 and co-ordinator of The Festival of Windows, says he always feels humbled by all those who help take part and the funding assistance from Newry BID and local council. It couldn't be done without them.

So if you are free on Sat 15th June on Hill Street Marcus Square, you are most welcome to come down and watch and even pick up a can of spray paint (we have child-friendly paint spray so even the kids can have a go.

We will be collecting for Newry Hospice on the day as we have done over the past few years and donations are always welcome for such a great cause.
