Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady has said that the person or persons involved in attacking a number of premises in the Ballybot area of Newry last night, had little to offer the community.
The MP visited a number of people whose premises had been damaged. Mr Brady said,“A number of premises in Ballybot were attacked last night and windows broken. Our community doesn't need this mindless vandalism and should be strongly condemned. If anyone has any information on the people who carried this out they should contact the P.S N.I.
Colleague, Newry MLA Liz Kimmins speaking about the attacks said “The attacks on premises such as Maura McCourts bakery in Ballybot have disgusted all right thinking people. Maura has been an institution in the Ballybot area for a lifetime, and this is not only an attack on her and her business, but on the whole community.
At a time when businesses are under serious pressure due to the current pandemic, it is particularly despicable that someone would do this deliberately."
Ms Kimmins has asked anyone with any information to bring it forward to the Police.
