A series of weather warnings for snow and ice have been issued by the Met Office for Counties Armagh and Down between now and midnight on Friday.

Yellow warnings of snow and ice are already in place to 6pm tonight, Another Yellow warning of snow and ice returns from 9am Thursday 18 until midnight Friday 19.

Strong winds are also forecast overnight tonight.

The Department for Infrastructure released a statement explaining that Salting of roads on the scheduled network will continue through tonight and tomorrow morning, however the Department's winter service team is experiencing difficult conditions in many areas.

Road users are advised to travel only if essential, take care and leave extra time if making journeys overnight and tomorrow morning.
