A sandy beach is on the way for Warrenpoint with work underway transporting sand to the popular seaside resort.
Hopefully the weather will take a turn for the better with long hot sunny days and balmy nights to bring a bit of the flavour of Bondi or the Algarve to County Down.
It is expected that it will take up to 850 tonnes of sand to transform the beach and work is due to be completed later today.
A tender for the work put out by Newry, Mourne & Down District Council closed earlier this week.
The tender involved clearing debris including beach wrack and supplying and introducing sand to form a beach area to the left of Warrenpoint Baths on the foreshore in Warrenpoint.
The tender added "The area will need cleared of debris & beach wrack prior to the deposition of sand which will be levelled to make a beach area for the summer season."
The project is expected to cost up to £15K excluding VAT.
