Members of Newry and Mourne Council expressed sincere sympathy at the passing of literary giant Seamus Heaney at the council monthly meeting on Monday night. County Derry Poet Seamus  was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 and was known throughout the world.

Books of Condolences are being made available in the following locations: Newry Town Hall, Warrenpoint Town Hall, Crossmaglen Community Centre and Kilkeel Leisure Centre

The Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Councillor Michael Ruane said he wish to extend his deepest sympathy to Seamus’s wife and family.
