A fundraising campaign organised by the family of Newry woman Aine Maney, who recently was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 colorectal cancer, has already raised over twenty thousand pounds.

The funds are being raised in a quest to give the forty year old a better outlook and give her more time with family following her third cancer diagnosis in just two years.

The mother of four who lives in Ballyholland was diagnosed two years ago, finding out the day after her father was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Aine's father John passed away in January 2020. Aine almost lost her mum in the same year to covid 19. Her mum was put into an induced coma and was in ICU for 3 weeks.

It's planned that the money raised will go towards treatment in Frankfurt, Germany which is hoped could give Aine more time with her four children Joshua 18, Shea 16, Oisin 14 and Ava 8.

Aine's sister Ita Fox said "We have found two doctors that are willing to take on this referral. One is in Chelsea that has set an appointment with Aine early November to discuss her prognosis and possible treatments. The other is a Dr in Germany that wants to do Transarterial Chemoembolization on the Tumours in Aine's body. This would mean cutting off the blood supply to the tumours and starving it of oxygen then administering a high dosage of Chemotherapy straight to the tumour."

Ita added "Aine and daddy were diagnosed one day apart, on the 1st of June 2019, Aine’s 38th birthday. Aine underwent her surgery to remove part of her bowel, she had some time to heal before starting her round of chemotherapy, which was hard enough without the helplessness of seeing our father going through his final journey. Aine’s cancer returned a second time later in 2020 which seen her have her uterus removed. This was then followed by our beautiful selfless mum contracting COVID which seen her in an induced coma, leaving us fearing the worst. Now less than a year later from the second surgery the cancer has returned a third time, this time in her pelvis and behind her stomach. This cancer is aggressive but we are still hopeful that the chemotherapy, prayers and love gets her past her prognosis. We are constantly looking at other options. Time is precious and we should make the most of it."

Ita wants to thank so much everyone who has donated and been so kind and says If anything it has given Aine the motivation to fight the diagnosis even more.

Aine says "I agree with my Diagnosis but not my Prognosis".
