A free service to provide security devices to people who have been a victim of crime, who are considered at risk of crime or who may be in fear of crime has been announced by Newry, Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP)

The ‘Home Secure Scheme’ funded by PCSP aims to provide a range of security devices to registered beneficiaries. Following a home safety assessment, Trained volunteers will fit a range of security devices that act as a crime prevention mechanism both inside and outside the home.  Some of the security equipment which can be fitted as part of the scheme include a door chain, door viewer, window alarms, oil tank alarms, night security lights, and decoy cameras.

Chairman of Newry, Mourne and Down PCSP, Cllr John Trainor said “Newry, Mourne & Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership is committed to ensuring residents and communities in the Newry, Mourne and Down area feel protected and safe. For this reason, myself and other PCSP Members and Partners would like to encourage those in need to sign up to the Home Secure Scheme. Christmas can be a difficult time of year for many. Crimes such as burglaries increase over the winter months and with the darker evenings it is important that residents avail of tools to help deter crime and feel safe at home."
