An increased number of houses close to the Camlough Road near the Egyptian Arch has made road crossing by pedestrians particularly dangerous according to Slieve Gullion Councillor, Cllr Declan Murphy.

Councillor Murphy has requested a site meeting with the Department of Infrastructure regarding the danger foisted upon pedestrians trying to cross the Camlough Road at The Railings housing estate.
Cllr Murphy said ‘There are bus stops on both sides of the road and pedestrians have to negotiate traffic coming from both Newry and Camlough to get to the other side of the road. The footfall in this area has increased significantly since the development of Station Close and The Railings."
"It is now time for the Road service to review its Traffic Plan for this part of the Camlough Road and provide a solution to keep the residents safe."
