Pauline McQuillan one of the SELB team who will be delivering the project stated “Working with young people on a daily basis concerns such as drugs & alcohol misuse, mental health etc. and how to deal with them constantly come up.  This initiative will begin to promote healthy messages as well as tackling issues around illegal drugs and so called legal highs.”

Sergeant Tom Young, Newry Neighbourhood Police team added;”We welcome and support this initiative from the SELB particularly in relation to the legal highs, there is a lot of misinformation out there, and this initiative will help tackle that, it is important that people are made aware that many of these substances may not only be illegal but unsafe, there is a real risk people may be breaking the law and worse that you could take something that is potentially lethal”

Translink Service Delivery Manager Mr Greg McLaughlin who is allocating space in Newry Bus station to facilitate the initiative stated “It is a great opportunity for us to partner with other agencies to tackle and promote issues of concern to our young people.”

PCSP Chair Cllr Andy Moffett, “Any initiative to promote safer and healthier communities particularly for the young people of the district is particularly welcome.”
