Leigh Parke was due to run the Paris Marathon at the weekend but due to its cancellation because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Kilkeel man instead decided to run his very own 'Paris Marathon' lapping the 26 miles around a field on the Longstone Road close to his home.

Making sure his months of training weren't wasted Leigh completed 105 laps of the field, a final distance of 26.21 miles. Deciding to use the run to also raise funds for the NHS the Mourne Runners athlete set up a JustGiving page in the hope of raising £105 but already has well surpassed that.

As Leigh explains "I was supposed to have ran the Paris marathon but with it being postponed and due to social distancing etc I decided to put the months of training into use and run 105 laps of a field close to my house for my marathon distance.
"My wife suggested on Saturday night to try to raise £105 for the NHS so I put up a JustGiving page and I’ve just went over the £2100 mark. Can’t believe it."
