If you would like to invest in a little bit of Newry of history you had better get your act together quickly, as there are less than 80 bottles left of the special release of the first bottled Newry Whiskey in over 100 years!

Matt D'Arcy & Company Ltd launched 384 bottles of individually numbered D'Arcy's 17 Year Old Single Cask earlier this year and it has already gained regard becoming the winner of the Best Irish Whiskey at the San Francisco Wine & Spirits Competition 2020 and the Best Irish Whiskey at the Las Vegas International Whiskey Competition 2020. D’Arcy’s 17-year-old is not only in a pretty box and anyone brave enough to remove the specially crafted stopper to consume its content will have a beautiful experience and an Italian Crystal decanter to fill with D’Arcy’s other whiskeys. There are less than 80 bottles unsold. They may be sitting in your local off-licence which can be found at www.mattdarcys.com

The experts state that there are 3 reasons why some bottles of whiskey skyrocket in value

  1. Scarcity. The fewer bottles produced, the more valuable it will become. Whiskey makers like Bushmills and Jameson produce millions of bottles to make their profits. The cost of manually bottling and labelling and packaging a small quantity is not their mainline business. Putting individual numbers on each label and box is not the norm. A Limited Edition is exactly what it says and is priced below the real cost with expensively produced crystal glass, gilded neck ties, wooden plinths and gold embossed labels such as the D’Arcy’s 17-year-old.
  2. Special Event. D’Arcy’s 17-year-old is the first release of Newry Whiskey in over 100 years. Its packaging in a linen clad box with four magnetised hinged door openings is eminently collectable.  Teeling’s 24, released in 2019 was originally priced at €350. It now changes hands at €1,220 per bottle. A 250% rise in twelve months.
  3. World Class Awards: D’Arcy’s 17-year-old won Double Gold at San Francisco World Spirits Awards, meaning all judges agreed that it was the Best Irish Whiskey, and this was in a blind tasting. This was added to by winning Gold at the Las Vegas International Spirits Awards. Teeling’s 24.was the 2019 Irish champion.
