The Newry & Armagh MLA commented, "today’s announcement by Minister Nichola Mallon will be a great source of comfort and relief to businesses and residents across Newry.

"Newry has historically been blighted by flooding – and every time it occurs, we see major destruction and huge, costly clean-up operations left in its wake. This project, which will see the construction of approximately 990 metres of new concrete culvert and 2,000 metres of new flood wall and embankment works, will save a fortune in clean-up costs, and it will also serve to ameliorate the anxieties of businesses and residents any time there is heavy rainfall."

McNulty commended the Minister for making the strategic investment adding "it will go a long way to making Newry a better place to live, work, and do business."
