For the second year running Newry Agricultural Show will be held in the grounds of Newry Rugby Club and surrounding Council grounds on the Rathfriland Road in Newry. It takes place on Saturday the 27th of June 2015.

The show was launched at a function this week in the Canal Court Hotel.

This year the newly elected Chairman Kyle Henry takes over the reins from outgoing Chairman Tommy Collins.

Kyle welcomed everyone to the 2015 Show Launch especially Vice Chair of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Gillian Fitzpatrick and thanked the new council for their generous contribution towards tonights show launch.

Sections in the show include cattle, sheep, goats, horses & ponies, Dog show, home industries & crafts, horticulture and trade stands, childrens section and this year a new qualifier to the home industries section is the “All Ireland Christmas Baking Championship”.

All livestock, tradestands & craft exhibits and school childrens entries can be viewed all day. The organisers are looking forward to their vintage tractor & machinery display and this year they are also having a “model farm display” in the marquee which should attract young and old.

For younger visitors they can come and meet Elsa & Anna and Olaf from Disneys Frozen Movie. They will be there from 12 noon to 4pm doing facepainting and nail art and at 2pm the best dressed princess & Olaf will be picked.  Other competitions include “little Farmer Girl”, farmer boy, glamorous granny, most appropriate dressly lady and a bonny baby competition. Entries for these will be taken from 1pm and winners will be chosen at 2.15pm and presented with their prizes from Miss Buttercrane.

Newry Agricultural Society are indebted to Newry Rugby Club and Newry Mourne & Down District Council for the use of their grounds which are ideal for the occasion.

Admission charges are  Adults £10, senior citizens £7 and under 16’s  free

Chairman Kyle Henry thanked the guest speakers  Vice Chair Newry Mourne & Down Council Mrs Gillian Fitzpatrick, President Ulster Farmers Union Ian Marshall and NISA Chairman  Bill Leeman, the Show's generous sponsors and show friends for attending the reception and also thanked the Canal Court Hotel for serving a beautiful supper.
