A man has been assaulted and his house ransacked during a burglary at Nursery Drive in Newry on Saturday morning, 27 October and police are asking anyone with any information to get in touch.

Detective Constable McKeever said: “At around 5:30am, it was reported that two unknown males entered a house in the area and assaulted a male occupant inside. The male, who was inside with his dog at the time of the incident received injuries to his head that are not believed to be serious. The property was also ransacked during the incident and the occupant was left badly shaken.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 282 27/10/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
