The Rural Health Partnership (RHP) has just celebrated its first year of delivering services having received the National Lottery Community Fund (TNLCF) support for the project.

The occasion was marked with an event that was attended by TNLFC staff Andy Hall and Lesley Johnston. By coincidence Andy Hall is leaving TNLFC after 16 years and the visit was an opportunity to introduce his colleague Lesley to project staff and group member. Andy was the link person  who liaised with the Rural Health Partnership on their application process to the Lottery

Mrs Teresa Nugent CEO of the RHP speaking at the event said “The Rural Health Partnership is delighted to welcome Andy back to the WALD Centre in Cullyhanna, we are very thankful to Andy for his support of our work and wish him all the best for the future.  Having just completed our first year of our lottery funded project, we are delighted to report we have had a very busy year, despite the Pandemic.  The funding has enabled us to provide an extensive range of programmes and activities.

"As well as funding a host of programes we have been abled us to employ a Project Worker, focusing specifically on key target groups like young families and farming families, settled travellers with a range of initiatives to support these groups.  RHP has also expanded its network links and increased its volunteer base. If year one is anything to go by our project will have a very positive impact on those individuals and families in South Armagh who lives have been impacted upon by mental health issues.”

Nugent continued “We are very grateful to the National Lottery Community fund for providing us with the security of funding our project for a 5-year period.  We will intend to build upon the successes of each year to provide a service to the whole community in South Armagh and already we are looking forward to 2022.  On a personal level I want to also thank all our loyal supporters and friends, and also to thank our  partners in the community, voluntary and statutory sectors for their continued assistance and support.

"A special word of thanks to our volunteers, and facilitators without whose help we could not provide the range of services our clients and users deserve, and thanks to my Rural Health Partnership Directors and Staff who are committed to ensuring the people of South Armagh have access to the services and support they need for their physical and mental wellbeing”

Thanks to the security offered by the National Lottery Community Fund grant,  the Rural Health Partnership has a range of programmes and projects lined up for 2022. If you would like more information on their services please contact info@rhpsa.org or phone 02830851220 or follow them on Facebook at RURALHEALTHPARTNERSHIPSA or Instagram @ruralhealthpartnership
