The Keep on Running (Ireland and UK) team have officially become the Guinness World Record holders for "The greatest distance run by relay team".

The record was confirmed by the Guinness World Record team on the 26th of September.

The previous official record was held by the Gillette Phenomenal Tour in Romania in 2009 when over 14 days the team ran 1923 miles.

The Newry team didn't just smash the record but left it behind by over 1500 miles achieving 3504.28 miles over 18 days from the 21st of July to the 8th of August at the St Colman's all weather running track.

Massive congratulations to all who organised, took part and supported this record book entry especially local photographer Jacqueline Galway.

All that's left now is to party and the official Keep on Running Party will take place on the 17th of November and here at we are sure the celebrations will keep on running and running and running...
