Constable Simon Groves this morning presents a cheque for £970 to Gerry McElroy, deputy manager of Cuan Mhuire.

Two years ago Constable Groves was called by a member of the public who had found a ring.

Despite carrying out extensive enquiries to locate the owner, the ring went unclaimed.

Constable Groves subsequently applied to court for permission to auction the ring and donate the proceeds to charity.
