Under 18 Football / Peil Faoi 18

Oliver Plunketts 4-11 Granemore 4-07 The minors had a home game this week with the visitors being Granemore. Perfect conditions for a match it was the boys who started the quicker with some super football being played leaving the boys to race into an early lead, a goal coming from Jordan King and a brace of points from Phelim Finnegan and Decky Loye.

With the game being 13 aside space was plentiful for both sides and the boys kicked on again with another two goals from Decky Loye and Conor Loye. The defence were giving Granemore no respite with halfbacks Lee Courtney and Niall Canning linking with the half forwards Ryan McSherry and Jordan King causing Granemore all sorts of problems, full backs Deaglen Jennings,Jamie Fields and the ever improving Micheal McGory keeping their men to just two points over the 30mins.

At halftime the boys had built up a lead of 3-8 0-2.On the restart it was the away side who from the throw in worked the ball forward resulting in the ball ending up in the back of the net. This give Granemore the start to the second half they wanted and they were fighting for every ball now and registered the next four points and had all the momentum. Granemore had changed their tactics by playing a long high ball into the square and once again after a super save by goalkeeper David Hankin, the full forward reacted quicker toe poking the ball into the net. The boys were now struggling to gain control as Granemore to their credit kept launching the ball route one. A super individual goal by Jordan King got the boys ontop again thus resulting in them starting to win their individual battles after a shaky 15 min period.

At the final whistle the boys registered their third win in a row in the All County 4-11 4-7 but improvement in the second half performances need to be the goal for this young set of players. Training days may vary.
