Sarah Jane Beattie bit the bullet and moved out of her comfort zone to take part in the Dune Half Marathon. 13.1 miles is a lot longer in distance than Sarah Jane is used to on the track, trail or road - but she stepped up to the mark and had a great run. This race is not an easy one, with multiple hills to negotiate from the start point of Newry right through to the final finish destination of Dundalk. The weather was kind to the 458 runners this year and Sarah Jane enjoyed a good pace to come away with a fantastic time of 1:54.36.

A Newry AC Senior Men’s team travelled to Victoria Park in Belfast for the annual NI & Ulster Road Relay Championships Event organised by Orangegrove AC. The Relay team consisted of Hughie Mackin, Aidan Murray, John McCaffrey and Gavin Crilly and not forgetting the support of Head Coach, Kookie O’Hagan. The men had tough competition and ran hard and fast on each of their 3,380 metre relay legs. The route took them around the pathways of Victoria Park. The atmosphere was buzzing with all the major clubs from Northern Ireland present. The men ran well and were pleased with their performances which were: Leg 1 - 12:09 Hughie; Leg 2 - 11:59 John; Leg 3 - 12:03 Gavin and Leg 4 - 11:41 Aidan - with a total finish time of 47:50.
