Newry 1’s vs Portadown 1’s postponed due to frozen pitch.

Bangor 3’s 2-5 Newry 2’s

Newry travelled to Bangor on Saturday to try and keep their 100% record I the league.

Newry started well and should have taken the lead after winning a penalty corner in the opening minute however the home keeper kept out Hogg's well struck effort.

It was all Newry in the opened quarter with chances falling to McCafferty and Hogg. Bangor took a surprise lead when a breakaway left the Bangor forward free to tap in at the back post past a stranded Andy Mark's.

This spurred Newry on and were soon level with a trademark David Hogg strike to bring the sides level, it was Hogg who put Newry into the lead with a crisp strike from the right hand side of the circle leaving the keeper with no chance.

Bangor got themselves back into the game scoring just after half time again poor marking leaving a man free at the back post.

Newry pushed for the win and were soon ahead when Simon McCafferty slotted home a clever penalty corner variation following a cut back from Josh Porter. 

McCafferty got his second when he turned nearly in the circle and fired into the roof of the Bangor net giving the home keeper no chance.

McCafferty still had time to complete his hat trick when he found himself one on one with the Bangor keeper he slipped the ball into the bottom corner to ensure that Newry left with all 3 points and their unbeaten start to the season remains in tact.
