Three SGR members Barry Carroll .Colm Murphy and Ryan Carson have once again took on the gruelling  Energia 24hr run at the Victoria Park in Belfast starting from 12 noon Saturday to 12 noon on Sunday . The event which the same members took on in 2018 ,travelled to Belfast knowing what was in store as they set up at the start line for the 2019 race and wanted to give it their all as this was the last year of the event. This run is one of the hardest on mind and the body as they run each lap which is just over a mile on a hard concrete path around Victoria Park. The men i'm sure were delighted to see friendly faces from the club and family members handing out ice lollies and refreshments  on route to keep them cool as they pounded the course on Saturday and looking forward until night fall for a cooler temperature , as the men ran each lap and looking at the race counter with their times they should be proud of what they have done. Barry Carroll went pass the 100 mile mark at 21 hrs and finished in 30th place and ran  109.88 miles in 24 hours .Colm Murphy ran 24 hours and got an amazing 90.38 miles while  Ryan Carson also came away from Belfast with an outstanding finish of running 82.16 miles in 24 hours. The three men should be very proud of what happened in Belfast on an event they will never forget and that had a real special atmosphere with other runners and all supporting each other. All our club members at Slieve Gullion Runners are very proud of Barry ,Colm and Ryan ..Well done lads and to support team.
