Festival Secretary, Eileen Mooney, confirmed that the Adjudicator would be Scott Marshall, Guild of the Drama Adjudicators (G.O.D.A.).  Mr. Marshall  has adjudicated at Newry twice before and has, on both occasions, remarked on the high standard of Groups at the Festival.

Because Newry Drama Festival is affiliated to the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland (A.D.C.I.) and the Association of Ulster Drama Festivals (A U.D.F.), Newry ‘s winners gain points  to qualify for both Festival Finals. This dual affiliation attracts Drama Companies from North and South of the Border.

Sponsorship was discussed and Maureen Grant, who looks after Sponsorship for the Festival, thanked all Sponsors, many of whom have supported the event over the past 60 years.

She thanked the Quays Management, Cathal Austin and Colin Kavanagh, the Main Sponsor of the Festival, for their continued support over the past nine years.

Colin Kavanagh, representing The Quays said “the Quays Shopping Centre is delighted to continue its support as Principal Sponsor in 2015 for Newry Drama Festival . Over the past nine years we have developed a long – standing relationship with Newry’s leading annual cultural event”

Maureen also said that some new Sponsors had expressed their interest in supporting the Festival next year. This can only be a healthy sign for the future of the Festival.

An innovation for 2015 will be a new starting time each evening at 7.30pm. This was agreed after an overwhelming vote by Season Ticket holders in favour of an earlier starting time.

The meeting concluded with Chairman Gerry McNulty wishing members a very pleasant break until the next meeting in early October 2014
