Busts of Nineteenth Century Nationalist patriots John Mitchel and John Martin also known as the Newry Radicals have been put on permanent display at Newry Museum and were unveiled today by Cllr Mickey Ruane, Mayor, Newry and Mourne District Council.
The Busts sculpted by Londonderry Sculptor John Sherlock were donated to the Museum by Michael and Carmel McKeown.
The display is located in Gallery Two adjacent to artefacts associated with the Famine, emigration and the Workhouse appropriately enough as Mitchel and Martin both wrote about the devastating effects of the Famine for the publication The Nation.
