Culture Night is on the way to Newry on the 20th of September. Photograph: Columba O'HareCulture Night a country wide night to explore, experience and enjoy culture in all its forms with free events, tours, talks and performances, makes it to Newry for the first time on Friday the 20th of September 2013.

Artists, creators and local talent will take over the new performance space in Marcus Square for an evening of interaction, exhibition and performance.  Other events will be hosted throughout the city, in bars, restaurants and other venues. This is the first time Newry has been involved, and we hope that there's something for everyone, and that it will be an annual event which will grow year-on-year.

An Information Evening will be held next Tuesday the 20th of August  at 7pm in the Auditorium, Sean Hollywood Arts Centre.

In order for Culture Night to be as successful as possible it is important that as many people possible attend the information session by Culture Night organiser Adam Turkington.

At the meeting organisers will need definitive details of what each contributor needs for their event/activity. Please come along to find out more, share ideas and begin to organise your Culture Night!

Don't worry if you haven't filled in an expression of interest form, as the information night will take care of all administration requirements.

Culture Night is a night of carnivalesque adventure like no other and is for everyone to enjoy. All Culture Night events are free to partake in. It is a brilliant way to reach new audiences, raise your public profile and expand your network.

It's the sort of event where people are expecting to see new and challenging material so it can be the perfect place to test out new ideas. It's the perfect opportunity to create something unusual and exciting for your portfolio. Most of all Culture Night is a lot of fun.

Culture Night is not just open to arts-based organisations but the contribution should be 'cultural'. We are liberal in our interpretation of the term 'cultural', especially if the proposal can bring something new to the event.

All activities and events must take place on 20 September 2013, be free and open to the public, be creative and innovative - this is a chance to create something different from your usual activity and be accurately described.

Culture Night is a family-friendly event, which means most activities will be appropriate for all ages. If your activity is not suitable for children or is aimed at a particular age range, please indicate this clearly in your submission.
